Graham Hoadly was born in Hornchurch, Essex, and commenced his career there at the Queen’s Theatre in 1977.
He has just finished touring with Opera della Luna, playing Baron Zeta in The Merry Widow. Other roles with OdL
include: Dick Deadeye/Auntie in HMS Pinafore, Mrs Partlet (don’t ask …!) in The Sorcerer, Pooh-Bah in The Mikado, and Fingers McFidget in The Burglar’s Opera. Prior to that, he played Major-General Stanley in The
Pirates of Penzance at Kilworth House Theatre in Leicestershire, and Grandfather in Ragtime at the Landor.
His West End roles include: the whole run of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (currently holding the record for the longestrunning musical at the London Palladium), in which he played Phillips, Lord Scrumptious and the Toy Maker. He played Lumley in Mr Cinders (Fortune); Dexter in Singin’ in the Rain (Palladium); Francis and Grant in Elegies for Angels, Punks and Raging Queens (Criterion) and Abe Greenbaum in Some Like It Hot (Prince Edward). He may be heard on the original cast recordings of these productions. His many major tours include: My Fair Lady (Colonel Pickering); Fiddler on the Roof (the Rabbi); 42nd Street (Bert Barry); Crazy for You (Greenbaum); Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (Simeon); Cluedo (Colonel Mustard); Salad Days (Uncle Augustine) and Just a Verse and Chorus. Graham is a regular pantomime dame/ugly sister for
First Family Entertainment, having previously appeared for them at Richmond, Wimbledon, Woking, Stoke and
Milton Keynes.
A frequent radio broadcaster, he was a regular in Flywheel, Shyster and Flywheel, and The Adventures of Sexton Blake as the villainous Professor Kew, amongst many others for the BBC.
Film and television credits include: Jimmy in Blunt with Anthony Hopkins and Ian Richardson, Flywheel as Boss
Plunkett, The Snow White Files as Baptiste, Sightings (as Jack the Ripper!) and Jack in Yahs¸i Bati, a spoof
Turkish western.
Graham also performs in cabaret and music hall all over the world.
