The Stansted Proms - Now Two Nights of Spectacular Entertainment!

Stansted Park will once again play host to The Last Night of the Proms on Saturday 20th July with the London Gala Orchestra, and this year a second night has been added on Sunday 21st July headlined by The Bootleg Beatles with special guests The Counterfeit Stones. Both nights feature Spectacular Fireworks Finales.

The Last Night of the Proms event staged for the fifth time last year was a huge success thanks to producers UK Productions and Stansted House making a number of significant improvements to not only the concert site but also the traffic arrangements both to and from the event.

Last years improvements which included road closures to facilitate freer traffic flow to the event, increased entrances and exits on to the concert site, increased sound amplification system, dedicated disabled entrance and exit, extra site lighting and toilet provision will all be repeated again this year.

Saturday night sees the return of The London Gala Orchestra who with conductor Stephen Bell, proved to be such a hit with audiences last year will be returning with a very traditional Last Night of the Proms programme that will also include some special pieces to commemorate Her majesty the Queens Golden Jubilee. The orchestra will be joined by guest soloist from the Welsh National Opera Naomi Harvey. Naomi is a regular guest on BBC Radio 2’s ‘Friday Night is Music Night’, and has recorded with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and London Music.

Enjoy all the favourites from the world famous Last Night of the Proms including Pomp & Circumstance March No.1 (Land of Hope & Glory), Rule Britannia, Fantasy on British Sea Songs including the Horn Pipe, Swan Lake Suite, Orb & Sceptre, William Tell Gallop, Jerusalem, Water Music and of course Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture with fantastic fireworks and cannon finale.

Sunday night at the proms will be an evening of unbridled nostalgia with the longest running and most popular Beatles tribute band in the world The Bootleg Beatles. The band, with a little help from The Duke String Quartet and Brass Ensemble, use original 60’s instruments to recreate all your favourite numbers, including many never performed on stage by the Beatles themselves. Recent years have seen them headline in front of crowds of over 90,000 as well as supporting such acts as Oasis, The Corrs, and Manic Street Preachers. Special Guests for the evening and getting the night off to a cracking start will be The Counterfeit Stones. From Finland to Tokyo and lots of bits in between the Counterfeits have sent audiences potty with a living cartoon of how the Rolling Stones were in their heyday. All of this and a spectacular fireworks finale too. So if you were not there in the Sixties (or if you were and you can’t remember it!) this is the closest you will ever get.

The concerts starts at 8.00pm on Saturday and 7.30pm on Sunday and take place on the beautiful lawns in front of the elegant Stansted House. The gates open at 5.00pm and 4.30pm respectively so there is plenty of time to enjoy a picnic before the show. If you don’t want to bring your own there will be refreshment and bar facilities on site.

Tickets are £19.50 (Sat) & £18.50 (Sun) -half price for children aged 16 and under, and are already selling fast. Parties of 20 or more can purchase adult tickets for £17.50 (Sat) & £16.50 (Sun) and Children’s tickets for £8.75 (Sat) & £8.25 (Sun). Concert patrons will also receive reduced price entry to Stansted House saving £3.50 on Saturday only.

Following the enormous success of last year’s event producer Martin Dodd said “The event is now firmly established and has grown year on year, and we are delighted to be able to add a second night. The improvements we implemented last year were greatly appreciated by our patrons and we shall be building on them for this years event .The event is constantly increasing in popularity but we will once again be restricting ticket sales and would therefore advise early booking to avoid disappointment.
